A Hollywood musical comedy starring Fred Astaire, Burgess Meredith and Artie Shaw. Astaire was attracted to the film by the opportunity to ‘dance-conduct this real swingin’ outfit’. From a musical point of view the film contains a perfect partner dance, an academy award song, an Astaire tap solo and a classic piece by Shaw and his orchestra.
Danny and Hank both have a ‘thing’ for their band manager, Ellen Miller. Who is poached by Artie shaw to become his secretary and manager. Ellen tries to get the two boys, who are rival trumpeters an audition for Shaw’s band, but the terrible two undermine each other in a bid to win Millers affection.
